I Can Break That Back In 10 Moves.

Posted by Kid Sidious On August - 30 - 2008

As all who have heard the show by now, know I’ll be in Sin City all next week.  However I decided to share this bit of gameplay footage before I go.   Create-A-Finisher Mode is making it’s way back to Smackdown Vs Raw 09!!!!  Now I can’t speak for anybody else but for me this is one mode that I feel makes SVR 09 great for fans.  There’s nothing like being able to craft your own finishing move and tie it to your created charater and then work your way through the ranks of the wrestling federation.  It brings up nostalgia of how me and my brothers battled it out for the belt numerous times.  If SVR 09, can give the fans an online franchise mode that spans on for more then a year, or better yet a build your own league mode and then run through the franchise…let me take a breath.  I’m getting way ahead of myself.  All of this is to say that I’ve been looking for a compelling reason to jump back into a wrestling game and hopefully some more cool features for SVR 09 are annouced to do just that.  Enjoy the video, and I’ll see everyone in a week with vegas stories to tell.

No Not Prince Of Zamunda…Prince Of Persia.

Posted by Kid Sidious On August - 27 - 2008

This new look Prince Of Persia has come with some scrutiny.  Some people don’t like the new art style, while other’s love it.  I am in the “Love It Camp”,  I find it a fresh look and sometimes to keep a series alive with potential a new look is not the end of the world.   Now the real question is will the gameplay for the next entry in the Persia universe fall in the “Love It Camp” as well???   I’m not completely sure; although after seeing this developer diary I’m looking forward to going back to camp.

Just when you think you’ve seen it all; someone somewhere will come up with something that’s never been done before.  That someone is EA.  That’s right one of the largest video game publishing companies in the industry took it upon themselves to put out a youtube response to a fan’s youtube video regarding a glitch in the Tiger Woods 09 game.   Watch and learn a truly unique PR move.

I Will Undiscorver Infinitely

Posted by Kid Sidious On August - 25 - 2008

Do you love RPG’s as much as I do?  Where any of you one of the original Xbox owners who craved rpg’s both western and traditional jrpgs, but found the offering lacking???  Well worry no more; for it seems that Microsoft has courted RPG’s in a big way for their Xbox 360.   I can’t believe that I’m actualy saying this but I do think I won’t be able to play them all this year.  Isn’t that a crazy statement???  However It’s a true one, with a solid lineup of rpg’s for this year and the next, rpg fans have reason to rejoice.   And with Infinite Undiscovery on the horizion for September 2nd, it seems to be the appetizer for the feast to come.  Enjoy the video.  And for info on the battle system check out the Battle System Discovered over on ign.com.

Stop Paying For Live And Everything Else.

Posted by Kid Sidious On August - 21 - 2008

Well fellow gamers, after a much needed haitus, I’m back and ready for business. With all the interesting news and updates out there is there any surprise I have a bit of a rant to share? I’ll try to keep this short but sweet.

Lately I’ve been running into a lot of stories regarding the fee for Xbox Live and reasons why Microsoft shouldn’t charge for online gameplay. Now, like many other gamers, I like things for free. However, I see Xbox Live as pretty much any service that’s been created that should indeed be free, but people pay for it anyway.

Sony and PC’s Don’t Charge To Play Online

Well that’s a true statement that to play on the computer and to play games across the PSN is free(mmo’s being the exception to every case). Here are  two other true statements. You don’t have to pay to watch television, but people still subscribe to Cable, Direct TV and now Verizon Fios. You don’t have to pay to listen to the radio, but now people subscribe to satellite radio. My point here is, the PSN and pc’s online service is pretty much like free broadcast networks, and free radio. These are solid services but are currently not giving you that little something extra that money can buy.

Take it for granted all you want, but to be able to talk across everything, sending out game invites across any game, being able to instant message friends on PC, and have all of this exist as one unified service is huge. And, with some of the new bells and whistles from the upcoming dashboard update; you get the idea that being able to game online and create an online gaming community via console is going to be a major selling point one day.

Sure Xbox Live could learn a little from the free services offered such as a better compromise on it’s closed environment, and using dedicated servers for it’s bandwidth extensive games.  While these two things are something that most people hope for for the future of Xbox Live; Live is still the most feature rich online gaming service.  While their conterpart PSN is making great strides to close the gap, between Xbox Live, no one in their right mind could argue that the gap would be closed faster if the service were supported by the customers who want it to surpass all of Xbox Live’s features.

So for all the people who think Xbox Live should be free, I simply have to ask: Would it continue to be one of the best services out there if it was?

I Love Braid: Xbox Arcade

Posted by Illmatic Gamer On August - 16 - 2008

Braid is a 2D puzzle-platformer, drawn in a painterly style, where the player manipulates the flow of time in strange and unusual ways.  Time is a key aspect to “Braid” as well as analytical skills and the ability to solve a jigsaw puzzle.  Did I mention a Princess and a toadstool like character? Imagine Super Mario brother merged with Prince of Persia with a tad bit of “Carcassonne” then you have Braid.

The game-play starts as a simple platformer just like Mario Brothers.  You jump over Koopa like creature and dodge a cactus like creature going in and out of a pipe like thingamajig. “Just like Mario Brother…”  I haven’t seen a star or fire flower but I’m not putting anything past this game.  I was just about sold on calling “Braid” a “Super Mario Brothers” knockoff then the puzzles happened.  Jigsaw puzzle pieces are placed all over the map and you have to discover how to obtain these pieces. I call them puzzles to find puzzles.    Sounds simple, well believe me it isn’t.

” The time behaviors include: the ability to rewind, objects that are immune to being rewound, time that is tied to space, parallel realities, time dilation, and perhaps more. Braid treats your time and attention as precious; there is no filler in this game. Every puzzle shows you something new and interesting about the game world.”

The graphic are very good for the Xbox Arcade.   The story is as good as any Mario storyline and the villains were not displayed in the demo.  What I like about Braid is that it doesn’t force you to solve puzzles in order to proceed. If you can’t figure something out, just play onward and return to that puzzle later.

Download the demo of Braid and tell me what you think.  Though the full game is painfully expensive costing a whopping 1200 MSP.  I would lie if I said I wasn’t going to buy it.

This Will Be Legendary!!!!

Posted by Kid Sidious On August - 7 - 2008

Now I know nothing about this game whatsoever.  I do know that a small buzz is starting to grow more and more about Lengendary being designed by Spark Unlimited and published by Gamcock.   And from the looks of the all access that Adam Sessler did with a few people behind this strange twist of a FPS it’s not hard to see why there’s a buzz for this game at all.  Werewolfs, Minotaurs, Gryphons Oh My!!!!!   So enjoy the video and the synopsis of this title set to launch for the PS3, Xbox 360, and the PC on September 30th.

Synopsis

Myths. They were just stories; tall tales to explain the unexplainable. But unexplainable doesn’t mean impossible.

Deep within the dusty basement of a New York Museum, recovered from the depths of the ocean floor, lies mythology’s most infamous artifact: Pandora’s Box. Sealed inside since time immemorial are creatures we thought were works of fiction, myths created by our ancestors. There, they have raged, awaiting a chance to escape and seek vengeance upon mankind for sealing them in their prison.

Now, rogue art thief Charles Deckard, hired by a shadowy organization to steal the box, learns that the line between fact and fiction is not as clear as it seems.

During the mission, Deckard, unaware of the box’s true identity, unwittingly releases its horrors into the world, triggering a war between man and myth. Now, giant griffons rule the city skies, ravenous werewolves stalk the urban streets in search of flesh, and Deckard is left branded with a signet that is the secret to man’s salvation. With the aid of a clandestine paramilitary force, he must fight to seal the door between reality and myth or see loss of civilization to the tooth and claw of legend.

An incredible epic-scale first person shooter experience.

Dynamic environments crumble, skyscrapers collapse, civilization falls.

Take on savage werewolves, fearsome griffons and other dangerous creatures in spectacular battle.

Human forces seeking to control the box adds another dimension in the form of three-way battles.

Diverse enemies – some are behemoth titans, tens of stories tall!

Revolutionary enemy artificial intelligence reacts to the environment and the situation.

Exciting multiplayer mode allows you to destroy the enemy with firepower or with the tooth and claw of monster AI.
